$100 REBATE FOR TEAMS ENTERING BOTH RELAYS BY 5/1/05.

NOTE EXPANDED WALK DIVISIONS, NOW MEN'S, WOMEN'S AND MIXED DIVISIONS.

START LOCATION: Hood River Expo Center, take I-84 Exit 63, turn toward river.

THE COURSE: The Run route for the Hood River Valley Relay is 55.8 and the Walk is 38.8 miles.The routes are wonderfully scenic and will inspire participants with the beauty of all of the fruit trees in bloom and great valley and mountain views.

Beginning at the Expo Center, going west through the city of Hood River, turning south up the west side of the valley toward Mt. Hood, through Parkdale, south to Cooper Spur (run only), then back to scenic Hood River via Hwy. 35.

There are some challenging uphill stretches and some considerably flat or gently rolling sections on the first set of legs. The last set of legs are of longer distance and are mostly downhill. (see course map)

REGISTRATION: Team Captains can register online at AllSportCentral.com. Captains will pay for the whole team then add team member information later. Captains will receive an e-mail with instructions regarding entering your remaining team members information online. Be sure to estimate the t-shirt sizes even if individual team information is delayed.

T-SHIRTS: Every team member gets a T-shirt as part of the entry fee. Sweatshirts may be substituted for the T-shirt for an additional $15 when you enter. Each team registration must specify T-shirt/Sweatshirt sizes to insure correct size/quantity ordering and team packet preparation. T-shirts & Sweatshirts are high-quality shirts featuring a unique multi-colored design. For others who wish to make a purchase, T-shirts are available online at the EventMgmnt.com E-Store, or at the start and finish areas for $10.00 each, Sweatshirts for $25.00 each.

AWARDS: All finishers receive commemorative medals. Additional medals can be ordered for $5.00 each, online at the EventMgmnt.com E-Store or via the registration form. First Place finishers in each category receive special awards. Second through Fifth Place finishers in the larger categories, receive ribbons.

EXCHANGE POINTS: Exchange Points will be at areas allowing parking and traffic control. There will be volunteers at key course points.

Each runner must “touch-off” to the next team member (no batons).

Portable toilets will be at Exchange Points noted in Handbooks.

SAFETY: Runners will proceed facing traffic, except where directed otherwise, due to visibility by runners or drivers being limited. Be alert to any oncoming vehicles as some drivers may not be aware of your presence on the roads.

TRAFFIC: Police are alerted to the Relay and will ticket traffic violations. Traffic direction is by team volunteer course marshals. These people are following directions provided for their position duties and, as such, are race officials, looking to protect event participants. All relay entrants must obey directions or be subject to penalty. It is absolutely necessary to keep vehicles off the road at exchange points. Also, spectators and team members must stay off the road during all hours.

FOOD & WATER: Each team must carry its own food and plenty of water. Food suggestions are: sandwiches, fruit, cookies and crackers. There are many stores along the route that can provide other supplies.

VOLUNTEERS: All teams from the Hood River and Portland Metro vicinity, (including Oregon’s Clackamas, Hood River, Multnomah and Washington Counties and Washington’s Clark, Klickitat & Skamania Counties), are required to furnish two (2) volunteers.

Early volunteer job location requests are given priority consideration; but, only to the extent reasonably possible. We must staff the entire course and, as such, some requests may not be at the time or position desired.

TEAM MATCHING: For teams seeking runners to fill the last few spots on their team — or — individual runners seeking a team, we provide a matching system. The list can be mailed or faxed to those needing the information. Referrals may be made if there is an obvious “fit”, but, primary contact for individuals would be made by Team Captains seeking people. Requests for teams and runners may also be made on-line at the EventMgnt.com. As people are selected from the fill list, Team Captains need to promptly inform us so the list is kept current and calls to those listed are limited.

SUBSTITUTIONS & SINGLE RUNNERS: Substitutions may be made online or by completing an entry form. All substitutes cost $10.00 per runner. “Singles” must submit an entry form with the $70.00 entry fee.

START & FINISH: The Relay starts and finishes at the Hood River Marina Expo Center, located on the Columbia River waterfront, just north of the I-84 Freeway Exit 63.

Teams consist of 5 runners, each running or walking 2 legs in sequence, starting in waves. Walk and slower teams will start earliest. Please estimate times realistically as the flow of teams at key points is critical to volunteer Course Marshal scheduling and runner safety.

TEAM HANDBOOKS: download from wqww.eventmgnt.com - go to Race Applications button. START TIME, VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENTS will be e-mailed to Captains on Monday, April 19th.

Teams whose entries are received late will be notified of start times via e-mail through April 14th only and as needed after.

All t-shirts, race numbers, signs, etc. will be distributed at the start area as part of the team check-in process.

TEAM LIMIT: Run Team field limited to the first 350 Teams.
